Was' Up!
Posts have been lacking as of late due to amount of time I have spent actually climbing. The last few months I have been climbing 2 to 4 times a week and for the most part feeling good on the rocks. Yesterday Than, L.S. and myself headed up to Castle Wood to go to the south facing Berthoud Cave. As expected temps where 15 to 20 degrees warmer then at the rim and we where able to get some climbing done. The send of the day went to Than who crushed Crystal Method's Stand Start, good work man! I amnaged to fall at the committing move to the lip several times and was able to do the sit move with out much of a problem, hopefully I will be able to put this one to bed next time out.
Here are some Lord Science Pics as I have no media of my own in which to share!

I have just received a pair of the new Optimus Primes from Evolve and they are hands down the best out of the box shoe I have ever had the pleasure to put my feet into. The Downcamberd Last proved to be perfect for providing maximum down force on steeper climbs and the XT-5 Trax HFR kept my feet from sk8ing off the nastiest, non-existent foot holds. This 4th edition in the Sharma Signature Series is honestly one of the best pair of kicks I have ever owned and they also have a slip on model (Optimus) that I have never even tried on and I am sure they are just as sick as the Opti Primes. You can check out Evolve's full line here!

HIrsch Family Reunion!
I just got back from a five day family reunion in El Paso, TX and man am I tired! It was a good trip and great to meet a lot of family that I have never meet before and let me tell you my family can party. I estimate my alcohol consumption to average 18 drinks a night and honestly I don't want to even think about having a drink for a little while. I did manage to make a quick trip to Hueco with some of my cousins and it was great to be bck in the park after almost a decade since my last visit. I climbed 5 easy problems but couldn't muster up any more then that due to having
22+ drinks the night before and only 5 hours of sleep. Throw on top of that 100 degree temps and the WORST HANGOVER I have ever had and you will start to get the idea. Can't wait for the next reunion!
PS
I have hardly posted at all recently due to my pc crashing (blue screen of death) but I finally got the old girl up and running again. You will never know how much you will miss it until it's gone.

This & That, That & This!!!!!
I know I haven't posted in a long while, me vida loco I quess. I have been climbing about twice a week and am making some progress in my recovery although sometimes it's roough not being able to even try "easy" problems that I have already done numurous times but it's all for the best.
Last Wen. Gatzke and I headed up to 11mile and did some rad easy trad pitches, it was a really good day and the first time I have roped up in over 18 months. I had a great time palying with some gear and enjoying movment on easy terrain. I will tell you that I did get worked and it took me a few days to recover, my body was not used to climbing a couple hundred feet albit even on easy terrain.
On Tuesday I headed up to the Pass and had a great day doing about 9 problems (including laps). I did take a hard digger missing the pads and landing on my elbow, shit is still pretty soar.
Yesterday I went up to 11mile with B_Rhodes and Ben. B_Rhodes is putting in some work on the newly fixed Dark Arts and is making very good progress and I think with a little more work that rig is going down. In usaul style Ben hiked everything he got on 1st go which consisted of Dark Art and Rapture, kid is a beast in case you already didn't know! I also had a good time and finally felt good enough to climb the left ss problem on the spray boulder, this is the steepest thing I have climbed since before surgery, I also did two face problems around the corner from Scott's Becoming and the SS to the Small Spary Arete. I think all the training is finaly starting to pay off and it's about f%^&*ing time! Above are photos of B_Rhodes working the Dark Arts!

Weekend!
So, I went up to the G.O.G yesterday and am happy to report that I added a few problems to my rehab circuit. When I arrived there were a few people climbing including two chicas, it's funny how anytime there are a couple good looking womens at the blocks I always seem to climb just a little bit better, hah go figure!!!
Today I had planned on going to do the incline on the peak but I missed my wake up call probably due the beers consumed last night. So, I decided to plan B it and head over to the G.O.G to run a lap but was stunned and a little pissed when I arrived to find that the loop had been blocked off and was being guarded by the MAN! Plan C had to go into effect, Columbine Trail it is. I had never been up this particular trail and was winded and about to start dry heaving after the first mile and a half and a huge blow was dealt to my ego when some fifty somethin' women came blasting by me and was not even breathing hard. I was about to reach the end of the trail when I noticed the same women was making her way back down and right then & there I thought to myself, you may have passed me like it was nothing on the way up but I'll be damned if your going to pass me on your way back down. I made an abrupt about face and started hauling ass back down the mountain. I won that battle but I now have a dime sized blister on my big toe, that's probably karma as opposed to poor fitting running shoes!
I will leave you with a funny pic of Dr. Hahn trying a problem to the right of his Becoming in 11mile canyon.........F$%^in' Classic!

Skinned in the Woods REMIX!!!!!!
I decided that while I was waiting around yesterday for the temps to cool down so I could go climbing I would remix some old footage with the new software. I was able to add a few effects and I think it came out a little better then the original. So I present to you Hayden climbing Skinned in the Woods..........again!

Saturday!
I woke up this morning to some sicky cloud cover and a nice cool breeze and decide that despite my hangover that I needed to get my ass in gear and head up to the pass before the clouds burnt off. I was able to do six problems in about 35-45 minutes and was pretty happy with what I was able to do, great climbing day fo sho.
In other news Hayden texted me last night and has obtained a ride of non-houpty status........I am obviously all sorts of juiced up about all the sessions that are sure to insue apon his return.......shit is going to be off the chain!!!!!!
Also I got word from D Marquess last night and he has been fully persueing his music thing, I would recommend checking out his bands myspace page, they only have two songs up right now but one of them is pretty good and heavily Sublime influenced. White Lite @ www.myspace.com/whitelite check it fools.

Sunday!
Sunday, sunday, Sunday!!!!!!!!!
Sunday was all about new stone and this cat Zack I had meet on 4/20 at the snake pits had told me about a few areas he had been to that might be worth checking out. Zack picked me up at 9 am sharp and we began an hour long drive to a gorge a little south east of Pueblo were it was rumored that the sandstone flowed like wine! This gorge is only about 250 yrds off of I-25 but you would never know it's there, you make a few turns and suddenly the earth opens up into a huge 5 mile long, 1/4 wide sandstone gorge with ampitheathers, overhanging faces and of course blocks. Zack and I scrambeled into the canyon and started a search area and after about 4 1/2 hours in the 90+ heat I was ready to throw in the towel. This place is rad and kinda surreal but unfortunitly the rcok left a little to be disired, think Ute Valley times like 10000. If this spot had Mobad or Joes stone you wouldn't be hearing about here, at least not for a little while.
After we nearly epiced tring to find an "EASY" way back out we decided to head back west toward the Wets to cool down, grab some grub and check a few more spots.
Ok so the next spot I will tell you about I thought was F&**in' dope and people have climbed there in the past and there is suppost to be a classic Gill problem there somewhere but Zach has spent three days lookinf for it and has yet to find it. So, picture if you will a mile long (maybe more) cliff band of the highest quality Ute Pass Stone. It was amazing and it's resemblance to the Pass was uncanny. Walking through the blocks I felt like I had been there before but I haven't, so far away from my stomping grounds yet so similar. I can't wait to go back and see more.
We checked out another spot or two, car side of course and started teh drive back to the Springs. It was a great exploritory day although I could live without the heat stroke, sun burn and hurtin neck but it was all worth it in the end. All in all we were out 10 1/2 hours and I am surely glad that with that amount of time and energy
invested we came away with something..............Another Ute Pass.

Saturday!
Yo so it's been a long time since my last post and I will be the first to admit that my posts as of late have been lacking but rest assured fools there will be some vids coming your way hopefully sooner then later.
Saturday A_Rockavich, Dr. Hahn and myself went to 11mile and we encountered perfect conditions. A_Rock nearly sent Rapture a number of times coming off high on the route were one must make a huge move with the right hand to a slot. It will surely go for him next time out. Dr. Hahn had his sights set on a .13a (warm-up) Pagan Wisdom which after a few goes went down with ease (like it was going to happen any other way). Then Scott wanted to give some effort on the Dark Arts (post break) and came up with some f^**ing crazy beta that might just work if your span is f'ing huge. I think this new beta could yield a solution for that 13 feet of desperateness before the fun .13 climbing above. Only time will tell!

More 11MILE!!!!!!!!!1
I have been spending some time in Eleven Mile Canyon over the past three weeks, kicking with the homies, snapping photos and shooting a little video and what not. Below are some of my favorite pics from the before mentioned sessions!
Brian Rhodes puttin' in some work on Only Entertainment.

Ander (A-Rock) Rockstad on SPEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

Jared making quick work of Spray Direct!

Sent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Doc's in the House YO! Scott Hahn working the still believed to be undone link up of Spew into Rapture. There's no doubt that this rig is going down soon, real soon if Scott's got anything to say about it.

Two More from SOCO!
Below you will find video of Hayden Miller cruising Skinned in the Woods which is a neo soco classic, albeit not my best work and the lighting is a little off but it was on my top ten list of problems to film and if I get a chance I will return to shot it in a little better conditions and produce a higher quality piece of this problem. The second problem is my one-handed ex-proj which I killed first try that day! It took me 7days, 50+ attempts spread over the a year plus. Hayden has rewarded me with a minimum of 8 points for my efforts, THANKS FOR SESSIN' WITH ME HOMIE! Feels good, real F#$%in' good to give a 110% on a block again. Also big up to B-Rhodes for sending Green Lantern stand after taking a nasty fall on the same, PROUD!
I'm done talking for now, so kick back and enjoy the vid!

Day 3, New Mexico!
And on the third day everyone knew that it was getting down to ditch effort time and if sending was going to happen today would have to be the day because who knows if and when we would be back for round two. We got an early start and Gatzke and Ander decided to head right up to the Nascar so Ander could send his proj. which he did of course and in good fashion. Meanwhile I decide to chill back with Hayden as he was wanting to spend the morning takin' it easy and making sure he was really warmed up for his last ditch efforts on TMBJ.
Here is a short video,(the only video I shot with my camera) of Hayden climbing a supa rad V3 that if memory serves me correctly is called The Scoup for reasons that will become obvious.
Hayden on a cool V4 arete. Side note: this picture was taken very early in the morning and is almost the exact same shot Hayden posted of Ander that he took later in the afternoon. I think while he was climbing he took note of where I was standing because he knows I always pick the best spots to shoot! Stop sneakin' fool!

After that we kinda just went and checked out some of the other blocks that were right around the area, sector or what ever you want to call it. Eventually I found a problem that I thought could be done onehanded and started giving it some goes, (in borrowed shoes that were still 2 sizes to big even with socks). This little problem looked to be very simple, 2finger pocket, pull the feet on and dyno to a crimp at the lip.....aaaaghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..............and then boom I would fall and hit the pads. Not so simple after all I quess but it felt good to really try hard on something again and to bleed the tips a little bit.
Once I was done foolin' around we all headed over to Hayden's proj. TMBJ were I could tell that he was starting to tire. I suppose we both have something to go back for.
And so the Epic journy home begins. We arrived back in Canon City around 9:30ish and unpacked Chris's ride and loaded up mine and then Hayden, Ander and I hit the road and were making damn good time that is until the Subaru decided to take a giant crap on me. Three times on 1-15 the car died, the check engine light came on and I was starting to get pissed, (a brother like me is working by 6 in the morn so I was really wanting to get back and sleep). Everytime it died we would give the Ol' girl some down time and then she would fire right back up although I couln't push her to go any faster then 35mph and we almost didn't make it up some of those hills. Luckly we ended up getting a pretty decent run out of her that is until we were about one, that's right one block from Ander's house and she died again. We pushed my dying ride the last block and began to unload. By this time it was about 11:30ish and I really wanted to get home and shit so I decided to try and make it the 2 miles back to my house. The fucker died 9 blocks from homebase, damn, so close.
I am happy to report that $700 later the ol' girl is back up and running but I don't know for how long, so if anybody's heading anywhere you should let a brother know,i'll pitch on gas!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 2, New Mexico!
And on the second day the crew arose and were all sorts of juiced up to see another
of The Ponds Spots. Chris lead the way and after a steep climb up a hill we arrived at Swiss Cheese, this problem is amazing and it seem that the closer to the rim you get the better the rock gets and I am all sorts of down wit DAT!
This is a boulder viewed from Swiss Cheese and it's probably bigger then my house, the rock in the foreground depicts the darker stone of the upper areas.

The man behind the fotos, HayDON readying to surely capture some dopeness!

A different perspective of Ander trying the immaculate SWISS CHEESE!

This is a little dyno/pocket/crimper problem at the above mentioned sector, props on this one Hayden!

This little area defiantly has some worthy blocks and supposedly this is only the tip of the iceberg. Parting pic and thoughts of Newmexitard Land to come.]

Land of Enchantment 2!
After spending some time at the King for a Day boulder we decided to go uphill a little bit and check out the Nascar area. This area is OK and we ended up spending the rest of our 1st day hanging out at or around these blocks.
View from Nascar.

Ander giving a solid go on a line that links this sloppy rail into on of something like 4 different finishes.

Hayden on a cool problem which is on the side of the boulder that sloppy rail traverses into for the extended variations.

On the same!

This kid is all juiced about the current situation!

Land of Enchantment!
or so the Welcome to New Mexico billboard reads as we cruse over the boarder from Colorado.
The plan had been laid in stone;Hayden, Ander, Gatzke and I bounce it to Joes Thursday night, climb 'till Sunday and roll back to CO victorious in our extended weekend zaventure! Thursday rolled around and spirits were high until we decided to do some research to see what conditions were looking like and they weren't looking very good, Vail Pass was looking all sorts of jacked up and after some convincing it was on to plan B.
Chris Gatzke had mentioned Ponderosa as a strong caniadte for a replacemebnt spot. The name Ponderosa sticks out in my mind due to a pic I remember seeing of Timmy F. climbing this amazing v5/10 highball arete in an old climbing rag and ever since then that image and that name have somehow been kept and filed away for future referance in my minds eye. Needless to say I was juiced, amped, mobbed up son!
We arrived sometime around 1 am, (for logistcis and a good write up and of course sickie pics check out Hayden's blog)and of course headed straight to the boulders. We ended up stoppnig at a problem called Triple Mullet Blow Job which climbs out this rad slopy rail feature.
The crew checking the Block, TMBJ!

Hayden late night,er early morning go on TMBJ!

Once we woke up Friday morning and tried to put together the pieces from the previous night/morning it was time to head off to the blocks and our first stop was the KING for a Day boulder.
Ander giving a go on King for a Day, early 1st morning!

Chris Gatzke on King for a Day, early first morning!

Brass Tax, ROCK is killer!

To Be Continued!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11MILE!
JJ having a "I Have no idea what's going on right now" moment!P.S. er maybe that was me ;)

JJ getting Sandbagged somewhere between 10:30 and Midnightish!

JJ war wound! Watch those trees son!

None 11mile pic thrown in for extra flavor, Hayden cleaning hill top Proj.

Justin Jaeger and I headed to Eleven Mile Canyon Friday night and it was probably the coldest I have ever been camping and I have camped out under the stars and waken up covered in snow and I am telling ya man that was nothing in comparison! It turned out to be a classic blue bird day Saturday and we started off on the Spray boulder were a rad line on the backside was climbed by both JJ and Hayden, (check there bloggers for some rad pics, links in sidebar). After some fun at the spray cave we went to look for Scalius a rad V10 put up by my boy Dave a grip ago. We got within 200 yards of the blocks but the conditions in front of us were to heinous to continue and at that point we bounced back to the canyon at light speed and eventually ended up at The Murray Blocks. These Blocks contains some nice problems and after a few hours everything that was dry got climbed and we hit the road home!
All in all it was an OK day at 11mile but once we left the comfort of the canyon things started to go down hill with the quickness but we will just leave it at that. Joes in T-MINUS 22 hours!
JJ getting Sandbagged somewhere between 10:30 and Midnightish!
JJ war wound! Watch those trees son!

A little taste!
Yesterday Hayden and I went up to the Pass and meet up with Gatzke. Primary objective was to catch video of Hayden resending his Beyond the Clouds(Guru shout out in the house) which is the line that starts in kinda of a crack about ten feet to the left of The Gusher. Well needless to say it has been a minute and a half since Hayden last climbed on that rig and he spent most of our time there working outthe cyrptic upper crystal moves again. Towards the end of the day Hayden was falling at the crux move on almost every go but his skin was already jacked well before we even arrived at the pass,so after some last ditch efforts
and with rapidly fading light we decide to head over to The Green Lantern which holds offer some comfert after the thin nastys of Beyond the Clouds. Hayden in my opinion had his best efforts ever on the Lantern making progress with his accuracy on the dyno which if you have been on this problem you would know that it all comes down to the accuracy of the toss(throw laser guided you must)! Hopefully this line will see it's third ascent sometime in the near future. Also, I did a few 5 second semi-locked off hangs yesterday and it felt awesome to weight some stone agian, this is the closest I have been to climbing since early August and can't wait to start getting a LITTLE TASTE of more rock!

Saturday at Shelf !
This Saturday Brian Rhodes, Scott Hahn,Chris Gatzke and I decided to head down to Shelf Road to meet up with Ben Schmitt and his trainer Brett. I was psyched to see the Damage Wall and was not disappointed, the climbing appears to be a-typical of other Shelf routes, steeper and on ok holds. Who knows I might even tie into a leash once I can climb again. B Rhodes walked away with the send of the day award with an awesome, inspiring ascent of Devil's Road, good work son! Next up was Ben who was amped to start giving Damage some serious send burns and when I say SERIOUS, I mean it brother. Ben's first go ended right around the crux on the head wall due to a botched foot sequence. He quickly pulled back up and climbed the remainder of the route with ease. After a good rest Ben gave it another go and came agonisingly close to snagging the third ascent of this rad looking Dan Durland route. Ben will definatly crush it how it wants to be crushed next day out. Biggest props of the day award goes to my man Gatzke who spent hours (4-6 by my calculation) hanging in a harness on a neighboring route to capture a little ill gnar gnar. All in all it was a good day to be out and chillin with good friends!

Shoulder Update 4.0!
I had a good visit with the doc yesterday and am happy to report that I can start doing some dead hangs in the next week or two and start doing pull ups with some weight taken off. I am juiced for that shit, playing with rubber bands gets pretty old pretty quick and the same goes for free wieghts for that matter. I should be able to start climbing by Memorial Day, perhaps sooner if I really get after it and you know I will. It will still be another year or so before I am fully back but it's going to be nice to start doing something climbing related sooner then later!

The Never Ending Search Continues!
Around 1 pm yesterday I decided to go check out some blocks that I had spyed early last week. The blocks of interest sit on top of a massive hill about 2-3 miles up Old Stage Road just outside of Colorado Springs. My origianl plan was to head up a wash that I have been a little ways up before, (years ago), and hoped to find blocks along the way to the hill top blocks. This plan was quickly aborted due to waist deep snow that filled the wash, on to plan B. Plan B consisted of 45 minutes of insane steep scree slogging followed by another 45 minutes of post holeing, EPIC to say the least. So, an hour and a half later we tagged the top of the hill and started to examine the boulders. How much you want to bet the boulders were choss? Well if you went all in you just hit the jackpot, choss, choss, choss.... After resting a little bit Dres and myself made a quick retreat back down to the car, it's amazing how fast and almost effortless going back down was compared to the B.S. we had to go through to get the to the top, 10-15 minutes down, 1 1/2hours up, dam!!!!! I will say this,I do think there are good blocks in the wash on solid granite, I know your there, you can't hide for ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Andreas did find a rad block below the parking for the wash that I might go back to soon and see what there is to be seen on that bad boy, I will try to post a picture of that block tonight.

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yesterday afternoon Hayden Miller snagged the covited second ascent of Daddy Fat Sacks (v12 unconfirmed) Ute Pass, CO. Dave Marquess and I started eyeballin' this line on the sunny side of the Ship's Prow boulder way back in '04 and Dave was getting close to the Fa, that is until I broke off a key foot that was crucial to our beta at the time. Daddy Fat Sacks lay dormit until I was able to rekindle Dave's interest and after some more work and new beta he finally sent in late Novem, ber of 2006. Since Daves first ascent many strong climbers have tried to repeat this neo-classic but no has that is until now. Good work old chap!!!!!!!! Unfortunitly I was unable to snag footage of the S.A, while Hayden was resting I turned off my camrea and apparently leftb it off for a minute to long and by the time Hayden was ready teh batteries in my camrea were to cold to work, f%&*in shit!!!!!!!!! This is the third time this has happened and a all I can say is leason learned. Chris Gatzke is alos looking good on the rocks these days putting in some work on Ships Prow Sit and Cool Cuts for Tojo. I will check my camera tonight and see if I was able to get any usable media, no promises. Until next time, HALLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ZATTTTT, BOTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was watching some show on TV the other day and they touched on a subject that I have been curious about for some time, does screaming increase performance. So, they had this big burly feller that is a profeesional breaker, (breaker=usess martial arts techniques to break various things) and set him in front of a stack of ice blocks with various messuring devices therein. The first time he executed the break there was no scream and they were able to gather data for a comparision. The second break he let out a war cry and the data showed that being vocal increased his power through the break.I just thought it was interesting as shit and I should share it with all you fools. ZATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!

Shoulder Update!!!!!!!
So I go t the results of my latest MRI back from the docter and it appears everythings all gravey, i.e no damage done to the shit he fixed. So what does this mean you ask. Well I am in for a couple months of pure hell aka PT and streching the likes of which few have seen. Today I go in for a Cortizone or is it Cortazone shot and hopefully it will speed up recovery a little bit and get me back on track for my return. In no related news Honerson and I were cruising around town Saturday and noticed some smoke clouds coming from a few blocks away, of course we decided to investigate further and what we found was one of the cooliest spectacles I have witnessed in a long time. We were 150ft from a full on structure fire with flames hitting about 25+/- feet. I was able to get some small 15 sec, videos o fthe event and if I can figure out how the hell to get them off my phone and uploaded to the intardweb I will post them for your veiwing pleasure. That's it for now, Halla!!!!!!!
